On September 29, 1979, RI President James Bomar, while on a visit to Manila, took part in a polio immunization activity in Guadalupe Viejo organized by the Club. On that occasion, Pres. Bomar administered the oral polio vaccine to a Filipino child, effectively sowing the seed of what would become known as PolioPlus, Rotary International’s most ambitious global program to wipe out for good the debilitating childhood disease from the face of the earth.
